Unlike the mean sea level, there is no level or a reference by which we consider the ground surface. If we stand on a ground surface that is called as ground surface. If we dig the soil stratum the upper and lower soil surfaces which are excavated, those may be called as ground surfaces. So, there is no reference for ground level to measure 'from here the ground level exists".
