How to Avoid Prevent / Segregation

1. Uniformly proportioned mix where sufficient matrix is present to bind and contain the aggregates

2. Sufficiently mixed concrete with proper water content

3. In Column Concreting avoid dropping concrete from high falls

4. Concrete should be discharged from a well designed mixer or from a mixer with smooth blades

5. Conveyance of concrete by conveyor belts, wheel barrow, long distance haul by dumper, long lift by skip and hoist are the other situations promoting segregation of concrete

6. Vibration of concrete is one of the important methods of compaction. It should be remembered that only comparatively dry mix should be vibrated.
