Environmental Science:
An integrative applied science that draws upon nearly all of the natural sciences to address environmental quality and health issues. Environmental science is the study of the natural world and how it is affected by human activities, including environmental issues such as pollution, climate change, and habitat destruction. It combines principles from various scientific fields to understand the Earth's systems and find solutions to environmental problems.
Environmental Engineering:
Environmental engineering is a branch of engineering that focuses on protecting the environment and improving human health by developing technology and processes to manage and treat waste, water, and air pollution. Environmental engineers work on issues such as waste management, water treatment, air pollution control, and climate change mitigation. They apply scientific and engineering principles to design and implement sustainable systems that minimize harm to the environment.
It uses environmental science principles, along with engineering concepts and techniques, to assess the impacts of social activities on the environment, and people, and to protect both human and environmental health. Environmental engineering requires a sound foundation in the environmental sciences and consists of the following;
- Provision of safe, palatable, and ample water supplies
- Proper disposal of or recycling of wastewater and solid wastes
- Control of water, soil, and atmospheric pollution.
